I’m always drawing. I was five when Dad showed me how rubbing a No. 2 pencil on a piece of paper with a coin behind it revealed the coin’s image. Totally blown away. Later, Dad introduced me to the marvels of tracing paper. More astonishment! I can draw my favorite comic book characters - sweet! I never stopped. People will always find me sketching, doodling, painting and simply taking every opportunity.
Of course, when I reached University age, I wanted to finish with a Fine Arts degree. Dad advised me to take up Engineering. As an obedient son, I studied hard to become an Industrial and Chemical Engineer. I was an ok “Dean’s list” Engineering student – still, I never stopped drawing. On my own, I learned design theory, colors, composition, techniques, materials and all that through hours and hours of practice, books, tutorials, experts, master classes, and even more practice.
To this day, that’s what I do. I create commercial art. Notice that I don't use a single art style. That gives me the capability to create any design the customer wants. That's where my academic discipline comes in handy. I use Engineering as the disciplined foundation to complete every project and solve design challenges. Add to that my creative experiences to produce pleasing, practical commercial art.
